VFW's Voice of Democracy Scholarship Program. This year's theme is, "My Vision for America?". This contest has the potential to generate scholarships for students at the post, district, state and national levels. Winning essays at the post-level are awarded cash scholarships in the following amounts: 1st place $150, 2nd place $100 and 3rd place $50. The 1st place post-level essay is then submitted to the district-level competition. The 1st place district-level essay winner then competes at the state-level. The 1st place state-level essay winner then competes at the national-level. Last year's Voice of Democracy national-level winners were awarded the following scholarships: 1st place $30,000, 2nd place $16,000, 3rd place $10,000. In total, the 2014-2015 Voice of Democracy program generated $152,000 in scholarships nation-wide. Show financial need. 4. There are 3 ways you can submit the applications with the following documents: 1. Submit directly online (easiest and most direct) with the following items: A) the student’s FAFSA - EFC will need to be scanned and attached to the online Application B) the students’ official Transcripts will need to be snail-mailed to CFO by the March 16th deadline C) recommendation letters will be requested/submitted online by March 14th 2.
